Hello members.

I am the Black And Minority Ethnic (BAME) Officer for Solihull and Meriden Labour Party and I’ve been a Labour member for almost 4 years now. I decided to put myself forward as the BAME Officer because as much as the CLP has many lovely people in it, it is not very diverse in terms of race. I am a mixed race South African who has lived in the UK for over 20 years. My ethnic origin is a complex historical discussion I am happy to have.

My role, as I see it, is to encourage our BAME members to participate in their local branch matters across Solihull and Meriden. COVID-19 has provided us with an opportunity to meet virtually from within the comfort of our homes. We have set up a regular meeting for members that identify as BAME, to meet and discuss any topic of the day.
